斜体的使用（Italic Type）
➤ 谨慎使用斜体来强调单词或短语。不要用斜体书写较长的段落。
➤ 对于正在定义的词语或文中首次出现的新术语，请使用斜体。
例：
In an outer-sphere transfer, an electron moves from reductant to oxidant with no chemical alteration of the primary coordination spheres.
（在外球电子转移中，电子从还原剂转移到氧化剂，而主要配位球并未发生化学变化。）
We call these materials microcapsules.
（我们将这些材料称为微胶囊。）
➤ 期刊、书籍、报纸的标题及其缩写应使用斜体。如果标题的第一个词是 “the”，则应将其斜体化并首字母大写。
例：
An article on a promising cholesterol biosynthesis inhibitor appeared in The Journal of Organic Chemistry this month.
（本月，《有机化学杂志》上发表了一篇关于一种潜在胆固醇生物合成抑制剂的文章。）
Enough for One Lifetime is the biography of Wallace Carothers.
（《一生足矣》是华莱士·卡洛瑟斯的传记。）
I read three articles on that new chiral compound in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

➤ 动物、植物及微生物的属名、种名、亚种名与变种名使用斜体。但当这些名称作为普通名词（单数或复数）或作形容词时，不用斜体。
例：
a bacterium of the genus Salmonella（一种属于沙门菌属的细菌）
Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus dysenteriae are two species of bacilli.
（凝固芽孢杆菌和痢疾芽孢杆菌是两种芽孢杆菌。）
Staphylococcus aureus is the bacterium that causes staphylococcal infection.
（金黄色葡萄球菌是导致葡萄球菌感染的病原体。）
Streptococcus pneumoniae (genus and species)（肺炎链球菌——属名和种名）
The red rhododendron, Rhododendron arboreum, needs bright sun.
（红色杜鹃花（Rhododendron arboreum）需要充足的阳光。）
Achromobacter haemolyticus subsp. alcaligenes（亚种）

➤ **基因型（基因表示）**用斜体，**表现型（蛋白质表示）**用正体。
例：
The vanA gene that encodes one such inducible resistance protein is designated VanA.

➤ 限制性内切酶名称应遵循其来源命名的字体规则：
例：
BamHI HaeIII SmaI
EcoRI HindIII XhoI

例外（EXCEPTION）：
通用酶类型的缩写使用正体：
Exo III for exonuclease III
Pol α for DNA polymerase α
Topo II for topoisomerase II
➤ “pH” 不使用斜体；“p” 永远小写，“H” 永远大写。
➤ “M”（摩尔浓度）与 “N”（当量浓度）不使用斜体；但 “m”（质量摩尔浓度）应使用斜体。
希腊字母（Greek Letters）
➤ 在化学与物理术语中，使用希腊字母而非拼写形式。
不要将希腊字母斜体化。
例：
α helix（不要写作 alpha helix）
β particle（不要写作 beta particle）
β sheet（不要写作 beta sheet）
γ radiation（不要写作 gamma radiation）
NFκB (nuclear factor κB)（不要写作 NF kappa B）
例外（EXCEPTIONS）：
delta opioid receptor（δ 阿片受体）
mu opioid receptor（μ 阿片受体）
